Fatal Shooting Of Reston Man Remains Unsolved 1 Year Later

RESTON, VA — It's been one year since 40-year-old Santos Antonio Trejo Lemus died from gunshot wounds he received while walking near his home in Reston's Winterthur Apartments. To date, no one has been charged in Lemus' homicide. An adult woman was also injured in the incident, which took place just before 5:30 p.m. on March 11, 2021. The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries caused by shrapnel and building material knocked loose by the gunshots, according to Fairfax County Police Department detectives. Police found Lemus after being called to the 2200 block of Winterthur Court for the report of gunshots. Emergency medical personnel examined Lemus and determined that he had died from his injuries. On Friday, FCPD posted a photo of Lemus with contact information for Crime Solvers on the department's official Twitter account. Anyone with information about this case is to call the Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800, option 2. Anyone who provides an anonymous tip that leads to an arrest is eligible for a cash reward up to $1,000.
