SECAUCUS, NJ — At midday on Friday, Feb. 4, the gas station attendant who works at the BP station in the center of Secaucus was robbed by two men at gunpoint, each holding a gun. Now this week, Secaucus Police say they have apprehended the second suspect, who remained at large for weeks. The first suspect was previously apprehended in Newark. At 12:34 p.m. Feb. 4, the BP gas station attendant called 911 and said two men each pointed a handgun at him and robbed him of cash. The duo then fled in a gray Honda Accord onto Paterson Plank Rd. toward Rt. 3 West. The Honda Accord's license plate was reported to be stolen out of Jersey City. Secaucus Police immediately broadcast a description of the suspects and their getaway car to surrounding towns. Within minutes, the Clifton Police Department observed the Honda on Rt. 21 and pursued the vehicle into Newark, where it crashed. In total, three men got out of the car and fled on foot. Newark Police arrested Wendell Bradley, 25, of Bayonne. Bradley was in possession of Ruger LCR .38 Special revolver, suspected to be used in the Secaucus hold-up. The second suspect fled and evaded capture. Now this week, after what they only described as " a diligent follow-up investigation," Secaucus Police Detectives identified Joseph Brown, 24, of Jersey City as the accomplice. On Thursday, Secaucus Police detectives arrested Brown near his home in Jersey City. Secaucus Police detectives believe these two men have committed numerous gas station armed robberies across three separate counties this winter. Brown, was charged with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, terroristic threats and refusal to submit to fingerprinting. He remains lodged in the Hudson County Jail. Initial Patch report on this incident: Secaucus Gas Station Robbed At Gunpoint (Feb. 7) "The Secaucus Police Department will continue to exhaust all investigative efforts, regardless of jurisdictional boundaries, to bring to justice those individuals responsible for victimizing the residents and/or businesses within Secaucus," said Police Chief Dennis Miller. "I want to commend our Detective division for working collaboratively with other law enforcement agencies in hopes these individuals will be held accountable for their crimes." Get great local news.
