From the Lake & McHenry County Scanner: By Sam Borcia A McHenry man was arrested after he claimed he had COVID-19 and then allegedly spit and breathed on officers during a traffic stop. Jonathon T. Larson, 21, of the 5700 block of Landcaster Circle in McHenry, was charged with driving under the influence, two counts of aggravated battery on a peace officer and one count of aggravated assault on an officer. A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court alleges that Larson spit on the face of a McHenry police officer after telling him that he was ill with COVID-19. He also breathed onto a second officer, the complaint said. The incident occurred while officers responded to a rollover crash in the 800 block of Curran Road on Monday. The complaint also alleges that Larson bit the left forearm of a security officer at Northwestern Medicine Hospital which caused the officer's arm to swell and also broke through the skin. He also received numerous citations including failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, driving without a seat belt, operating an uninsured vehicle and improper traffic lane usage. Larson remains held in the McHenry County jail on a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court again on December 9.
