CONCORD, NH — Are you a certified lifeguard? Need work for about five weeks later this summer? The Concord Parks and Recreation Department is looking to speak with you. The city is attempting to open some city pools between July 6 and Aug. 14 but officials have to find lifeguards first. Specifically, the city needs 15 lifeguards, with up-to-date certifications in CPR, first aid, and lifeguarding. City officials made the decision to try and open some of the pools due to safety issues that some residents might encounter by finding other watering holes to cool off in which could potentially be unsafe, like the quarries, and sections of the Merrimack and Contoocook rivers, which don't have lifeguards or safety measures. Qualified applicants should apply online at concordnh.gov by midnight on June 28. "If Parks & Recreation is successful in hiring the necessary staff, it is important for the community to keep in mind that the pool season will look quite different," Stefanie Breton, the city's public information officer, stated. "Changes will include updated hours, staffing, and cleaning." For more information, visit the parks and recreation department website. Got a news tip? Send it to [email protected].
