Concord Patrolmen Team Up With Nonprofits For Food And Fun: Watch

CONCORD, NH — The Belknap-Merrimack Counties Community Action Program has teamed up with the Concord Patrolman's Association and other organizations and residents to fund a summer arts program for children in the city. The organizations distributed arts supplies and craft materials in bags while others were handing lunches for kids Thursday at the Royal Concord Gardens apartment complex with some help from the Friends of Forgotten Children and the New Hampshire Department of Education. Community Services Officer Ryan Howe, Officer Steven Martel, and Detective Dana Dexter were on hand as well as Lenny O'Keefe and Liberty, the city's comfort dog, and Andy Labrie, the special projects coordinator at Community Action. Children and parents grabbed a bag of materials and were also served bagged lunches for the day — and stopped for a spell, in the heat, to greet Liberty, who took it all in stride. Labrie said approximately 30,000 meals will be served to children as part of the program. The Concord Patrolman's Association made a donation for the art supplies this week and the kids seemed to appreciate the crayons, coloring books, and markers. But donations are still needed. Community Action and the Friends are seeking funds to fill another 250 bags with art supplies. Donations can be sent to Community Action Program, POB 1016, Concord, NH 03302.
