LAKE COUNTY, IL — A drunken driver slammed into the back of a Lake County Sheriff's Office squad car with a different drunken driver already in custody inside, authorities said. The incident happened early Sunday on Sheridan Road in Beach Park. No one was injured.
Police said Alaya N. Solomon, 36, was driving at a high rate of speed in the outside lane when she hit the squad car, which was parked in the outside lane with its emergency lights on, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
A deputy saw Solomon's vehicle, a Dodge Durango, heading south on Sheridan just south of Yorkhouse Road at about 2 a.m. and stepped partially onto the road, aiming a flashlight at the Dodge to try and get the driver's attention, according to police.

The deputy was forced to jump off the roadway, police said. An ambulance was called to the scene to assess everyone for injuries, but no one was harmed in the collision.
Solomon faces charges of aggravated drunken driving, aggravated driving while license revoked and driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as Scott's Law and other traffic violations. She was transported to the Lake County Jail where her bail has been set at $100,000.
She is next expected in court on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
