Doberman with VERY SPECIFIC behavioral needs, currently in foster. He is extremely well bred and imported from Eastern Europe. He is a very loving, goofy, very well trained, super intelligent, obedient, beautiful, healthy dog. But he is very protective and will carry through with that under the wrong circumstances! This is something that will not change about him. He has no other behavioral problems. He weighs about 90lbs., is neutered and up to date on shots. He is a very young, puppyish 4 ½ years old. He needs a safe, low-key home with, probably, someone that lives alone, definitely has no children, and not a lot of company. ABSOLUTELY is not just some junk-yard guard dog, or one to be isolated, alone, outside!!! He needs an owner with a strong, confident, but not bully, loving, personality. He will bond with you like you can’t believe, but only you. Here are his needs and what you will need if you adopt this dog. HIS NEEDS: A minimum of strenuous exercise every day (He LOVES retrieving a ball and is good at dropping it). A minimum of strict training every day for a couple of 10-15 minute intervals. A very large cage or crate. And, of course, good food, fresh water, and a comfortable bed. YOUR NEEDS: A very well fenced, secured yard. A dog door for access to the home. A commitment to his health, care, and most important, a continued dedication to his strict training needs to alter his behavior. A good training collar, preferably a low-medium quality Garmin. A strong desire to follow my instruction and trust that what I say is what the dog needs. I have had Dobermans for many, many years. I know the breed well and can read them with reasonable accuracy. I have also been doing rescue of these dogs for over a decade and can assess their needs. This is not a dog for everyone, but is the perfect dog for the right person.
