Description

State Representative Deanne Mazzochi (R-Elmhurst) is partnering with the Polish American Student Association of Elmhurst University to host a drive to collect medical supplies for Ukraine. "We received a tremendous amount of support for last week's supply drive, which I was so amazed by and am so appreciative of," Rep. Mazzochi said. "All of the advocates and organizers we've spoken with, however, say there is a clear and urgent need specifically for medical supplies. There have been horrible reports out of Ukraine that a hospital was bombed. Civilians are being attacked and they need our help." Working with local organizers, Rep. Mazzochi's office collected and delivered several trucks worth of general supplies last week that were delivered via two cargo planes. Rep. Mazzochi's office is now asking specifically for medical supplies. Critically needed items are: Large gauze padsMedical tapeLarge bandagesAlcohol padsCotton ballsNeosporinPetroleum jellyAdvilAspirinIbuprofenChildren's aspirinCough syrup (for adults and children)First Aid Kits All items must be new and unopened. Items with expired dates will not be accepted. The drive will take place on Monday and Tuesday, March 15-16th from 9am-4pm and Wednesday, March 17th from 9am-noon. No supplies will be taken after noon on Wednesday as they will be loaded immediately onto a cargo plane for Poland and then onto Ukraine. Items will be accepted at Elmhurst University in the Founder's Lounge and at Rep. Mazzochi's office, located in the Westmont Center, 1 South Cass Ave. Rep. Mazzochi added, "Thank you to the community for their generosity in helping the Ukrainian people who find themselves in a desperate situation as their country is under attack."
