EAGAN, MN —The Eagan Rotary Club is seeking sponsors, individual participants and teams for its Second Annual Live to Give Walk on May 7, which will support four local charities. The 1.1-mile walk will take place, rain or shine, at 9 a.m. in Eagan's Central Park, 1507 Central Pkwy. The path is accessible for walkers, strollers, wheelchairs and wagons. Many participants wear costumes to the event, which will feature a food truck, mimosa bar and live band. Proceeds from the fundraising will go to: DARTS, an organization serving seniorsDakota Woodlands, a shelter for women and childrenThe Drawer, which donates socks and underwear to the homeless and underprivileged Eagan Rotary Foundation, the club's charitable foundation "This walk is a celebration of giving to valuable Eagan charities," said Andy Schmitz, an Eagan Rotarian and the walk's co-chair. "The Live to Give Walk brings fun and joy to an outdoor walk with your neighbors. We encourage teams of all ages to register." Registration for the walk is free, though participants will receive a Live to Give t-shirt with a $100 donation. Organizers also encourage teams to sign up, collect donations together and pick a team-wide costume theme. Event sponsorships remain available for between $500 and $2,500. The New York-based tech company has created a phone app for no-contact parking entrance, exit and payment via smartphone. At this year's Live to Give Walk, students from Eagan High School's Interact Club — a volunteer and charitable organization sponsored by the Eagan Rotary Club —will be on hand to serve as greeters and guides. Check-in for the walk will be from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on the morning of the event. After-walk food and refreshments to purchase will include breakfast options provided by the California Dip & EAT food truck, and a mimosa bar from Wildcats. The band Gus Sent Me will be performing classic southern country music for a second straight year.
