Here are the top three stories today in Anchorage: Congressman Don Young has welcomed President Biden's Russian Seafood Ban with open arms. The legislation was presented by Congressman Young himself last month, in protest of the recent Russian attack on Ukraine. The congressman also called upon his colleagues to follow suit on sanctions effort that hits Russia in a way that will send a message. (Alaska Native News) Iditarod leader Brent Sass claims his prizes for being the first musher to the Yukon River. The Eureka musher was the first out of Cripple on Thursday afternoon, and went on to claim first place. His prizes include $3,500 cash and a bottle of Dom Perignon. (Anchorage Daily News) UAA student-athlete Kylie Reese leads the fight to keep the university's gymnastics program alive. After arriving at UAA from Seattle Pacific in fall of 2020, where the gymnastics program folded, the lone senior discovered that Anchorage's program had also been terminated. Given one final shot to raise adequate money, Reese along with her teammates fundraised, with just 15% left before the deadline coming in June.
