Description

CONCORD, NH — Concord firefighters extinguished a fire at a homeless camp between Interstate 93, the Pan Am railroad tracks, and Storrs Street on Sunday. Fire dispatch initially received a report of the fire from Goffstown firefighters who radioed dispatch about seeing a fire between Market Basket and the old liquor store. Engine 4 was sent to the area and found smoke bellowing from one of the campsites. "It's involved in one small area," a firefighter said. Firefighters extended a hose from the truck's tank while a second battalion also arrived to assist. The bulk of the fire was put out in a few minutes, according to scanner chatter. A fire commander said they would be continuing to dampen embers and the area while also requesting Concord police to be sent to the campsite. Dispatch told the commander there were reports of a person with a chainsaw who had burns on their arms and asked if they needed an ambulance. "Affirmative," the battalion chief said. The commander also requested the railroad company be told that there was a fire hose across the track. NEWSCAM 603 posted footage of the fire on YouTube.com. Got a news tip?
