Did you know Buck Leonard? The Buck Leonard Association (buckleonard.org) is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Walter "Buck" Leonard's induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame by collecting and sharing stories of those whose lives he touched. "Buck helped me on the day I arrived in Rocky Mount," said one former Detroit Tiger of his former mentor with the Rocky Mount Leafs. Do you remember when Buck was a truant officer? "He was FAST!", shared one person who remembers VERY well! Buck also served the community as a Sunday School teacher at St. James Baptist and as a physical-education instructor.
