Description

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The first game of Lansing roller derby is back after 2 years. A lot of work has been done during the pandemic for Lansing Roller Derby and they’re ready for their public debut. Formerly the East Lansing Roller Derby, Lansing Roller Derby has combined with the Lansing Derby Vixens to have a single team in Lansing. With the merger and new members from boot camps, the team has enough skaters to have four home teams to play against each other. The home teams will pay homage to both organizations' historical team names; Mavens, Broadbarians, Vixens, and Capital Corruption. As the world starts to open back up, there haven't been many opportunities for “usual” derby bouts. Thankfully this team is able to adapt and still bring back a sport that brings life to our community. The first game of this season will take place on March 19th at Court One in Haslett. This double header will start at 5:30pm with Mavens vs Vixens and at 7:30pm Broadbarians vs Capital Corruption. While seating is limited and no public tickets are for sale, you can watch the game live on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjs2JEmxWPOy3iWY9bgZ8BQ The Mayfair Bar in Haslett will also be live streaming the game if you’d like to watch with others. The teams will be meeting there after the games for an after party. Keep following to find out which team will take home the win, in a 4 part home team round robin face off over the course of the next four months!
