Description

Hello Reader, I really miss playing music with other people, I moved here from Philly last year and now that I'm feeling settled, I would love to get out some of the creative energy I have stored up! I'm a solid drummer, started playing when I was about 10 (I'm currently 31). Not a technical master but I think I have a creative playing style that makes up for it. I can get by on guitar, completely self taught but I've written/recorded a couple albums of material. I took a back seat on guitar in the last band I joined focusing only on drums but I've gotten back into playing and writing since then. I'm also really interested in the use of samples, either in a musical way or simply for sound collage. Collaborators of all skill level are welcome here, it's way more important to me that our personalities mesh, have the same sense of humor and values. I can't get good ideas if I'm not in a good mood--I want to make music with people I enjoy spending time and cracking jokes with. The only bands I've been in that worked were the ones that had this dynamic of good vibes over all. My vision of this project doesn't emphasize live performance, the idea is more of a songwriting/recording project focused on writing and recording good tunes. Playing shows could be something we talk about once we have some material. Don't get me wrong, playing shows used to be my favorite part of being in a band and they're good for motivation. It's just not something I want to emphasize with this project. I wrote Post-Pop (I’m not sure if this is a thing?) because what even is genre anymore. I’m interested in stylistic shifts between songs and tastefully mixing aesthetics. I want to make music that’s engaging, somewhere on the spectrum from chill to danceable to perhaps slight discomfort. Here’s a list of artists I’m influenced by: Silver Jews/Purple Mountains, Life Without Buildings, Spirit Of The Beehive, Prince, Women, Talk Talk, The Microphones, Jens Lekman, Jai Paul, Why?, Sonic Youth, The Velvet Underground, Burt Bacharach, Dehd, Todd Rundgren, and of course a lot more just going through some of my recent Spotify activity. Interested? Shoot me a message and send some music if you have any and I can send some stuff back and we’ll take it from there.
