Description
Have you noticed that many of our old decaying, beat up, concrete garbage can containers in Hillcrest have now been painted grey and had a WELCOME TO HILLCREST metal sign attached to 2 sides? Really? Who thought this was a good idea? There's nothing wrong with the sign but attaching it to garbage receptacles? When you think about it It's kind of symbolic of just how bad Hillcrest has become. Street people camped out on every other corner with trash all over the sidewalk. Overflowing garbage cans. Filthy bus seating. The stench of urine and feces in the air. Electric scooters laying on their sides blocking the sidewalks for pedestrians. Some of these signs have been properly installed on poles out of reach from the graffiti. The garbage receptacle signs will soon be destroyed or covered with graffiti. If the city wants to spend money wisely then PLEASE invest in garbage receptacles that can NOT be gotten into, covered with stickers or knocked into the streets. Putting these expensive signs on garbage containers is a good example of Putting LIPSTICK on a PIG.
