Description
Bait Bag with The Burning Sun & Louisa Stancioff ALL AGES Bait Bag with The Burning Sun & Louis Stancioff Bait Bag was founded in the summer of 2018 by Fiona Robins, Claire Donnelly, and Courtney Naliboff, on the island of North Haven, Maine. Needing catharsis after being weighed down by constant bad news, the three women got together to make loud music. Their tone is planted firmly in rock and roll with a nod to punk and a knowing wink at the riot grrrl movement. Inspired by bands like Sleater Kinney, Blondie and Le Tigre, as well as anything loud, fun and inclusive, Bait Bag’s songs are intended to empower and excite, or at least give other frustrated people something to flail around to. The Burning Sun is an indie-rock trio hailing from Burlington, VT (unceded territory of the Western Abenaki) committed to a belief in the transformative potential of vulnerability. Katy Hellman is the principal songwriter and powerful voice at the center of the band's dynamic sound. Working closely with her friends and collaborators, drummer/multi-instrumentalist, Steven LeBel, and guitarist, Bo Malcolm, the group blends their eclectic influences, ranging from folk, grunge, psych rock and prog, through a combination of soaring vocals, punchy bass and drums, and soulful harmony. This music lays bare the wild grandness of being alive; explosive joy, dissonant chaos and deep sorrow. The Burning Sun offers a sonic embrace during times of cognitive dissonance, encouraging us to feel deeply and be present with the pulse of this living, breathing world. Louisa Stancioff plays indie folk music. She writes and sings about everyday life blurred with surrealist thoughts and imagery, and accompanies herself with a reverbed-out electric guitar. Her bandmates, Dave and Dan Kelly are brothers from Bucksport, and with the addition of drums and the occasional ripping guitar solo, add some roll into the indie folk. Louisa is originally from Chesterville but currently lives in midcoast Maine, along with her bandmates. She is in the process of recording her first solo album. You can listen to her previous band, Dyado, anywhere, or her recently released solo EP on bandcamp.
