This is not your typical professional presentation. Annie and Nicole help listeners to focus on how to eat intuitively and form a healthy relationship with food, exercise, and body image. The presentation includes guided worksheets and activities to immerse listeners into the client/patient experience. Listeners will also have access to the authors’ podcast, Between 2 Pastries, as well as recipes and other educational materials after this presentation. As dietitians, Annie and Nicole want all people to accept all types of food, love their bodies, and find joy in movement. Presentation Number 2 Orienting Families to be Effective Support Systems for Clients with Eating Disorders - Melissa O'Neill, LCSW and Meredith Starr, RD, LDN with the Center for Discovery know that when it comes to eating disorder recovery, the family can be one of the most underutilized resources. Often struggling with their own relationships with food and fat phobia fears, families can quickly be labeled as “resistant” and can be challenging to navigate. In this workshop, Melissa and Meredith will discuss how to help support family members in challenging some of their internal biases and fears that can impact their ability to support their loved one in recovery. Through experiential exercises and case studies, eating disorder professionals will learn how to utilize evidenced-based practice and creative coaching techniques for engaging a client’s family members and help them become the most important resource in recovery.
