Certified Life Coach-Althea Cavor After many years of using her God-given gift of motivating and encouraging people overcome life’s harshest challenges and obstacles and become and embrace all they are destined to be, Althea Cavor is now a professional life coach with recent certification as Certified Executive Leadership Coach by Fowler International Academy of Professional Coaching. She counsels both in group and one on one settings. “My specialty is helping people define their purpose and helping them organize their lives,” says Althea, also a licensed minister who, along with her husband and business partner Andre Cavor, led Prospering Circle Ministries for five years and served as its pastor. “I also have helped many people get through depression and work through and overcome their feelings of worthlessness, even to stop bad lifelong habits like smoking. “I once heard another pastor say that God has put some of us on a path where we somehow make life’s struggles look easy, so that we may help others go through theirs,” she adds. “My motto is that I take the power God has given me and apply it to my life every day. On a personal level, knowing that I am forever equipped with these strengths, and been blessed with His discipline, allows me to find hope in difficult moments where I may not like the outcome. I try to get in tune with God and what God is trying to communicate with me every day so that I may help others deal with difficulties in their own lives.” The longtime Cleveland based businesswomen has run the successful daycare business Learn & Grow Childcare Center with her husband and business partner Andre Cavor for nearly 20 years. A domestic violence survivor, she created the Fear & Pain behind Domestic Violence organization several years ago to empower women who are or have been victims of spousal abuse, and to educate the community at large about this important but all too often little discussed issue. Cavor Entertainment, the production company she runs with Andre, has produced two Fear & Pain Behind Domestic Violence Awareness concerts as an extension of her longtime work and advocacy on behalf of her fellow survivors and those still going Althea is also well known throughout the larger Cleveland area as “The Coupon Diva,” driven by her lifelong passion for “couponing.” Between her weekly shopping for her family and the bulk shopping she does for Learn, Play & Grow, Althea estimates that she saves upwards of $10,000 per year. As she told the host on Fox 8 Cleveland during one of her two appearances on her local news, she uses this cumulative windfall for dinners out, movies, pedicures and manicures and vacations. She currently travels five times a year off the money she saves couponing, and her savvy extends to finding exciting deals and discounts on flights, hotels and time share resorts. Drawing on her 30 years of couponing expertise, Althea has become a local celebrity of sorts conducting seminars based on the same advice she had been giving family members for years. Since her first event in December 2014 attracted over 200 people, she has hosted hundreds of gatherings throughout the Cleveland area, for church groups, small groups and large groups in a wide variety of community settings. Althea is also the manager of The Cavor Project, one of Cleveland’s most popular and acclaimed ensembles, playing R&B, smooth jazz, R&B, smooth jazz, hip-hop, reggae, pop, blues, rock and gospel. For the past ten years, the band has played hundreds of local restaurants and private parties. She also manages her husband’s burgeoning solo career. Andre is a veteran jazz and gospel saxophonist and artist who has appeared on Trinity Broadcasting Network playing “Total Praise” and was also a featured performer at T.D. Jakes’ Man Power Men’s Conference. His 2017 debut album Road Trip, produced by top smooth jazz artist and producer Darren Rahn, earned Andre his first Billboard Chart hit with the album’s title track, which reached #14 on the Billboard Smooth Jazz Songs and National Airplay charts. National Recording Artist-Saxophonist Andre Cavor The title of Andre Cavor’s 2017 debut album Road Trip turned out to be an inspiring, self-fulfilling prophecy, setting the multi-talented Cleveland based saxophonist on an incredible journey that has established him as one of contemporary urban jazz’s most acclaimed and innovative independent artists. Once his talent and multi-faceted vibe was unleashed, nothing - – not even COVID-19 - could stop Andre’s career momentum. During the initial phases of the lockdown in 2020, he performed weekend “driveway concerts” for passersby from the van in front of his house in the Cleveland suburb of Solon, OH. Mindful of his growing national and international audience, he soon shifted to Facebook Live, where he continues to perform weekly concerts under the name “Wind Down Wednesdays,” playing to tracks in front of a roaring fire to create an inviting intimacy with fans tuning in. Produced by Darren Rahn, fellow saxophonist and renowned artist who has worked his studio magic for genre greats like Kirk Whalum, Jonathan Butler, Dave Koz, Eric Darius, Jeff Lorber and the late Wayman Tisdale, Road Trip was that rare visionary project that achieved transcendent success while defying the conventional industry wisdom that tells artists they must limit themselves stylistically. The collection found Andre unabashedly sharing his lifelong love for pop, jazz, R&B and gospel music, drawing from a lifetime of musical influences and experiences to create a passionate, high energy masterwork that truly comes from the soul. The collection’s first single, the Andre-penned title track “Road Trip,” received substantial airplay everywhere from Las Vegas, Panama City, Cleveland and Houston to Birmingham, Seattle, Boston and over in the UK. The track hit #13 on the Billboard Smooth Jazz Songs chart – an incredible achievement for an indie artist with his first commercial release – and #4 on the Smooth Jazz Network Top 20 chart. It also received substantial spins on XM Sirus Radio’s Watercolors channel. In addition, famed Cleveland dance instructor Robert Johnson, Jr. created a “Road Trip” line dance that became a sensation in numerous cities. When Andre attended a line dance convention in Las Vegas, he witnessed 1000 people performing the dance simultaneously. Road Trip’s second single “Ready or Not” also hit the Top Ten on the Smooth Jazz Network. Andre also received major critical acclaim as well, making the 2017 top 10 Critic’s Pick Year End list in Jazziz Magazine. Andre has subsequently earned accolades – and grown his fan base substantially – with the release of several popular singles over the past few years, including “Stay With Me Tonight” (2019), “Wind Beneath My Wings” (2020) and his most recently dropped track, “Heat Index” (2020), which The JW Vibe review site called “his most engaging, slyly soulful single ever.” In 2020, he also released the children oriented collection Saxophone Lullabies, playing familiar lullabies (from “Brahms’ Lullaby” and “Hush Little Baby” to “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”) backed by the ambience of nature sounds. The saxophonist is currently working on his second full length urban jazz EP, set for release in 20222. Andre laid the foundation for the success of Road Trip with hundreds of performances as leader of The Cavor Project, which has been a mainstay on the Cleveland music scene since 2007. The band is known for infusing fresh, explosive energy into vocal and instrumental classics from the 80’s through 2017 and spicing up their set list with dynamic originals. Featuring 11 of the most acclaimed musical talents in the city – five band members, five vocalists and a hip-hop artist – The Cavor Project performs a grooving mix of R&B, smooth jazz, hip-hop, reggae, pop, blues, rock and gospel. Since the release of Road Trip, Andre has headlined gigs featuring his own material with several members of The Cavor Project at Cleveland hotspots like Nighttown (a historic Cleveland club chosen one of the Top Five Clubs in the U.S. by Downbeat Magazine) and the Take 5 Jazz Lounge, Blu Jazz+ in Akron, OH, Margaritaville in Hollywood, FL and Martini Blue in Houston, where he sold out four show over two nights in February 2018. Andre has also opened shows for top R&B vocalists Will Downing, Glenn Jones and Regina Belle (in Miramar, FL). Andre has headlined at festivals throughout the country with numerous contemporary jazz legends and top up and coming performers. These include Cleveland’s Edgewater Park Jazz Festival (with Gerald Albright, Kirk Whalum, Maysa and Lin Rountree), the Galveston Wine and Jazz Festival (Albright, Norman Brown, Julian Vaughn), the Dallas Martini Blue Spring Jazz Festival (Whalum, Maysa, Kim and Kayla Waters) and the Vrroom VIP Up Close and Personal Jazz Festival in Durham, NC (Jonathan Fritzen, Gregg Karukas). Andre has secured several key endorsements from music manufacturers, including Theo Wanne Mouthpieces and the Japanese based Silverstein Works Ligatures, whose team of artists includes Albright and Boney James. “I appreciate the fact that my musical voice can now be heard by people throughout the world, and I am grateful for my wonderful, passionate fans,” Andre says. “On a deeper level, I love that God uses me and my music to be a blessing to others. Whether it’s the opportunity to play ‘Happy Birthday’ to someone at one of my shows, or people telling me that my music helped them get through the day or soothe their fears or heal them when they’re battling major health issues, it’s wonderful to uplift them and be of service in this way.”
