Press release from Lemont High School: Dec. 8, 2020 Lemont High School's Junior Achievement company is selling several products that will provide hours of home entertainment, which is perfect during a time when we're advised to stay home and among our family members to help ensure our safety. Limited quantities of playing cards and puzzles from "Little Mountain Games" are available for purchase. "Little Mountain Games" offers four products for purchase, and these items are perfect holiday gifts for local residents, current and former faculty and staff, current students, and Lemont High School alumni! These items include casino grade playing card decks featuring either the Lemont High School "L" or the Village of Lemont logo, and 285-piece puzzles featuring either images from Lemont High School or the Village of Lemont. Sold individually, the decks of cards are $8 each, while the puzzles are $15 each. However, a variety of bundles are available, including: cards only ($15, includes one of each deck), puzzles only ($27, includes one of each puzzle), Lemont High School bundle ($20, includes LHS cards and puzzle), and Village of Lemont bundle ($20, includes Lemont cards and puzzle). Individuals who prefer not to purchase online should contact Junior Achievement faculty sponsor John Aspel. Tentatively, items may be picked up inside the main entrance at Lemont High School from 3-6 p.m. on Monday, December 21. Individuals must wear a mask or face covering and social distancing is required to pick up purchased items. No items will be mailed. Lemont's Junior Achievement organization annually builds a business from scratch. A student-led board creates a product, sells stock in the company and markets the product, with a goal of reaping dividends for its shareholders. This year's Junior Achievement board includes seniors Sean Abbott (Customer Service) and Chris Vasvery (Marketing), and juniors Claudia Palarz (Management), Jayne Pelen (Finance) and Joe Spadafora (Supply Chain). Established in 1919, Junior Achievement is an educational nonprofit organization that brings financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship programs into classrooms from kindergarten through high school. Junior Achievement of Chicago is the largest of the organization's offices in the United States. Its programs empower students to make a connection between what they learn in school and how it can be applied in the real world – enhancing the relevance of their classroom learning and increasing their understanding of the value of staying in school. Lemont High School's Junior Achievement entries have earned eight Chicagoland "Company of the Year" accolades in the last 12 years, including victories in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
