Over 1,000 Vote In Two Days Of Early Voting In Lemont

LEMONT, IL — Over 1,000 people have already early-voted at Lemont Township. The early voting site opened on Monday, and the Cook County Clerk's Office reported that 488 people came to vote. Numbers increased on Tuesday, when 558 people came to vote at the site. So far on Wednesday (as of 3:30 p.m.), 344 people have voted. Township Facilities Director Kathy Henrikson told Patch the average wait time is around 45 minutes. Health guidelines restrict the number of people allowed inside the built, so some of the wait is outside. According to the Cook County Clerk's Office, early voting hours for Lemont Township will be: Oct. 19 - Oct. 23: 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.Oct. 24: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.Oct. 25: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.Oct. 26 - Oct. 30: 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.Oct. 31: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.Nov. 1: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.Nov. 2: 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Henrikson said there have been no breaks in voters from start at 8:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. She added that hundreds have also walked in to the lobby to drop off mail-in ballots at the secure drop box there.
