Some of our services include front & rear windshield replacement, shower door installation, window replacements, and other glass service works. We are a fast-paced and motivated team looking to pass on years of knowledge and experience to the next generation. Here at Modern Glass, Auto Glass Apprentices will learn the ins-and-outs of the industry while training under an experienced Auto Glass Technician as part of a 1-year training program. Essential Duties: - Gather materials for all jobs tasked that day and prepare work truck. - Work with trainer and office staff to coordinate jobs, routes, and task lists. - Assist in loading and unloading of windshields and glass panels. - Assist senior technician with replacements throughout the day, including (but not limited to) gathering tools and materials, prep work area under direction, lifting and fitting glass, and cleaning the work area after - Perform a pre-inspection test inside and out for any visible damage including testing windshield wipers. - Obtain windshields from specific automobile makes and models from stock or vendors if directed examine all material for defects. - Raise and remove cowl if it impedes windshield installation. - Cut flat safety glass according to specified patterns or perform precision pattern-making and glass-cutting to custom fit replacement windows. - Use primer to fully cover scratches in damaged areas only, primer must be completely dry before running urethane bead, taking humidity and temperature into account. - Ensure clips and molding are put in properly, test for windshield wiper alignment. - Clean the installation area of any residue, replaces stickers as needed. - Perform final inspection and clean up. - Communicates to dispatch when the job is done. - Consistently wear PPE and ensure safe practices. - Build customer loyalty and rapport by exhibiting superior service. Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to perform physical activities that involve the use of entire body, such as climbing, lifting 50+ pounds, balancing, walking, occasional stooping, and handling of materials. Ability to lift windshields both independently (50-70lbs) or part of two-man teams (80+ pounds). 80% of jobs are performed at the customer’s site which requires Technicians to drive from one customer site to the next scheduled job, averaging 2 hours driving/day in a company vehicle. “Modern Glass is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity.
