It's time to wear orange, put orange ties out, share your orange support pics, and glow orange to shine our love on a very special little girl.... #love2ella On Monday, October 19th, Tiffany took 2-year-old Ella to the pediatrician for what she thought would be a routine visit to help her with some discomfort in her abdomen. What Tiffany was not expecting was to be sitting at Christ Advocate Hospital later that night, waiting on test results from blood work, ultrasounds and CT scans, to determine if Ella had Wilms tumor, a kidney cancer that effects children. In the days that followed, Tiffany and Tom sat with Ella in the hospital as more tests were run, surgeons were talked to, and plans were made to attack the kidney tumor that appeared on the CT Scan. Surgery was scheduled for Thursday, October 23rd, and lasted 6 hours. While the doctors had hoped to be able to remove the kidney and tumor as a start to Ella's road to recovery, that was not a possibility. Based on the surgery results, the course of action was changed to completing rounds of chemo to shrink Ella's tumor, which will then be followed by another surgery to hopefully remove the kidney and tumor that the first surgery was hoping to accomplish. The entire Rojszyk family needs us now more than ever to help them through the long and difficult road that they have in front of them. Not only will there be excessive medical costs from surgeries and treatments for Ella, but Tiffany and Tom will both have to take time off of work to ensure that Ella's older siblings, Cole and Ava, are cared for as well. Update on Nov. 10th from Mom (Tiffany): We are overwhelmed by the love and support that has been shown for our baby girl and our family. Thank you so much for your kind words, positive thoughts, prayers, cards and gifts. We are so blessed to have all of you in our lives. Ella has a 28 week treatment plan that includes chemotherapy treatments for about 6 more weeks, a second surgery most likely in December and then chemotherapy and radiation treatments post surgery. We returned home from the hospital a little over a week ago. Ella is doing so much better at home. Her playful personality is back and she is loving her playtime with her brother and sister:) Please continue to send positive thoughts and prayers to our Ella.
