BAY AREA, CA — The Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District announced the Golden Gate Transit and Golden Gate Ferry will cut several daily bus and ferry runs effective Tuesday. The schedules were adjusted hours after seven of the nine Bay Area counties, including Marin County, ordered residents to shelter in place in an extraordinary attempt to slow the spread of coronavirus. The order went into effect at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday and will last until at least April 7. "The public health order includes Marin and San Francisco counties, both of which are served by Golden Gate Transit and Golden Gate Ferry," the announcement said. "Public transit, including Golden Gate bus and ferry service, is considered an essential service and will continue to operate under the order."
