WESTPORT, CT — First Selectwoman Jennifer Tooker announced Thursday she has scheduled a series of meetings over the next few months with residents of each RTM district to discuss some of their concerns in dealing with traffic, pedestrian and bicycle safety, as well as steps town officials are taking with respect to those issues. In a news release, Tooker said these meetings will be held in coordination with the town's public works, planning and zoning and public safety departments. Included in these discussions will be officials and employees who are experienced in traffic management, knowledgeable of roadway conditions, engineering, and possible speed calming solutions, as well as the regulations and oversight authority of the town. Having these meetings will provide an opportunity for residents of each RTM district to talk about problems they are facing in their particular area and ask questions about possible solutions. These meeting will take place in-person Thursdays at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall auditorium as follows: Thursday, March 17, 2022: District 1Thursday, March 24, 2022: District 4Thursday, April 7, 2022: District 6Thursday, April 14, 2022: District 7Thursday, April 21, 2022: District 8Thursday, April 28, 2022: District 9Thursday, May 5, 2022: District 2Thursday, May 12, 2022: District 3Thursday, May 19, 2022: District 5Thursday, May 26, 2022: Make UpTooker noted while certain information applies town-wide, and residents may attend any of the meetings, traffic conditions and issues are different for each neighborhood. All interested residents are encouraged to attend the meeting specific to their neighborhood/district. They will have the opportunity to express concerns and gain knowledge about what steps may be feasible or are already in progress to help manage and mitigate traffic issues. Solving the traffic issues in town will not happen overnight, but these sessions are an essential first step, Tooker said.
