Description
STAMFORD, CT — Shots were fired in the area of Custer Street Thursday evening, causing glass shards, plaster and bullet fragments to almost hit two children, Stamford police said.
Though it appears no one was hit by a bullet, at 6:18 p.m. Thursday patrol officers responded to reports that gunfire had broken out among a group of people congregating midway on the block.
Police said two rounds went through the porch wall of a residential home, which caused glass shards, plaster and bullet fragments to fly into the home and land within a few feet of two young children.
The children were not hurt, police said.
Initial reports found the congregated group was fleeing the area after the rounds were fired, and police described the neighbors as "startled."
The shooting remains an active investigation, and the Stamford Police Department is asking anyone with information to call Sgt. Sean Boeger at 203-977-4421.
