Description
MILL VALLEY, CA — Old Mill School in Mill Valley has a new principal. The Mill Valley School District this week announced that Jason Matlon has been named principal of the elementary school at 352 Throckmorton Ave.
For the past two years, Matlon served as principal of Santa Rosa Middle School, where he focused on improving learning and supporting students in an environment that fostered social-emotional well-being and citizenship, according to the district. He helped transition the school to a school-wide Title I Program to ensure greater financial stability. He also introduced the Cougar Code, a site-specific positive behavior intervention support system for staff and students aimed at improving school climate and culture.
He previously served as assistant principal of Wells Middle School in Dublin, as well as the Safe & Inclusive School Coordinator for Albany Unified School District.
A resident of Marin County, Matlon holds a master's degree in education from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a bachelor's degree in international affairs from Georgetown University.
Matlon's first day is July 1. He replaces former principal Jason Deppong, who left the district to become principal of an elementary school in Los Gatos.
