TOMS RIVER, NJ — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting Wednesday night after two people dropped off a man who had been shot multiple times at Community Medical Center and then left, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.
Jimmy Mosley, 36, of South Toms River, was unresponsive when he was brought to the hospital and succumbed to his injuries, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Toms River Police Chief Mitchell A. Little said in a joint news release.
Mosley was brought to Community Medical Center about 10:15 p.m. and hospital staff notified police, Billhimer said.
The driver of the vehicle that brought Mosley to the hospital and a passenger both took off, he said. Authorities did not provide any description of the driver and passenger.
The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Major Crime Unit, Ocean County Prosecutor's Office High Tech Crime Unit, Toms River police and the Ocean County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit are investigating.
"There is no known danger to the public at this time," Billhimer and Little said.
