Circadian Biology and Intermittent Fasting - A Healthy Conversations event
The circadian clock regulates daily physiological and behavioral changes over 24 hours. It controls many events from the sleep/wake cycle to cellular metabolism. Disruption of the internal clock with the external world results in negative health consequences, including obesity, type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome.
Intermittent fasting has become very popular as a weight and health management tool. It is a dietary pattern that cycles between eating and fasting. The time-restricted feeding/eating patterns is a form of intermittent fasting where nutrient intake and fasting are aligned with circadian cycles.
Join our nutrition scientists as they discuss how this this dietary pattern has been shown to cause reorganization of the clock-regulated metabolic processes, thereby reducing the risk of metabolic dysfunction.
