BEVERLY, MA — Beverly fire crews were busy back at work Friday morning battling a fire at a commercial building on Dunham Road.
The fire at Maestranzi Bros. Inc. lawn mower repair shop was extinguished by mid-morning with no serious injuries reported.
"C1 arrived fire on scene reporting smoke showing from the building," Beverly fire said. "Firefighters Keith Rivers and Ronnie Williams of Engine 5 made an interior attack, extinguishing most of the visible fire in the rear service area allowing the crews on Ladder 1 and Engine 1 to overhaul and extinguish any remaining hidden fire."
Beverly fire said Danvers, Hamilton and Salem crews provided coverage Friday morning and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The fire was contained to the rear of the building and under control by around 9:45.
This is the second morning this week that Beverly crews have battled a working fire after fighting a basement fire on Chase Street, and later a three-alarm black on Swan Street, on Tuesday.
"Three fires in four days really drives home the importance of a properly staffed fire department," Beverly Fire Union 1669 said. "Recently we put our newest piece of apparatus in service - dedicated ladder. We now have a total of four companies in the city of Beverly at all times.
"The positive effect this has on an emergency call can not be overstated. Thank you to the citizens of Beverly, Mayor Mike Cahill, and Chiefs O'Connor and Cotter for making this happen. And thank you to all our mutual aid companies who responded to our city to help these last few days."
