Let’s come together as community and business leaders to serve alongside one another as we support a good cause at a local non-profit. This year, the Chamber at Southwest Michigan First is excited to bring our members more ways than ever to develop, grow and connect. Let’s come together as community and business leaders to serve alongside one another as we support a good cause at a local non-profit. INTRODUCING… Connect for a Cause Connect for a Cause is about building authentic relationships while working together and having fun in service of the community we love. Our next Connect for a Cause event will be hosted by the South Michigan Food Bank. Join us Tuesday, April 19 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm as we work together to: 1. Sort & Pack Fresh Food: Volunteers sort and pack produce into our fresh food boxes. These boxes consist of 20+ pounds of fresh fruits and veggies, dairy products and others staple items. 2. Repack in the Clean Room: Companies like Post and Kellogg’s donate massive amounts of bulk food items for South Michigan Families. Our volunteers play a key role to package these bulk items, such as cereal, frozen broccoli, or granola, into family sized bags. 3. Stuff Backpacks : Package a weekend supply of non-perishable foods for school-aged children. We hope you can join us for some or all of this community service event. A little info on South Michigan Food Bank: They are one of seven food banks in the state of Michigan serving (8) eight counties (Barry, Branch, Calhoun, Hillsdale, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Lenawee and St. Joseph). Their mission is to enhance the quality of life for those struggling with hunger in South Michigan. Each day, they feed 33,000 people in partnership with over 300 neighborhood organizations such as food pantries, schools and churches. They work with volunteers each day to package food to make that impact possible.
