The Annual Heritage Hill Weekend Tour of Homes is excited to welcome visitors back after a two-year hiatus. Seven families have graciously offered to open the doors of their lovely and well-loved homes in this historically significant and vibrant neighborhood. Two public buildings - the historic Calkins Law Office and the Custer Alumni House, recently restored by Grand Rapids Community College - are also included in the tour. A variety of architectural styles are represented this year from an elegant brick Georgian Revival with ornate woodwork to a simple, cozy working-class home. A Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece whose Prairie Style looked to the future contrasts with a Shingle Style Victorian Grand Old Lady steeped in the past, acting in her current role as a charming bed and breakfast. An artistic interior redesign has creatively transformed an American Craftsman Style home while a brick Tudor retains its original classic beauty. Also on tour are two newly-renovated homes: one an imposing Georgian Revival, and the other, a farmhouse that was actually moved intact to its present location from a block away. Mechanics of Tour: Grand Rapids Community College DeVos Campus @ 435 Fulton Street East will be your first stop to receive wristbands, brochures with tour map, and parking and restroom locations. Parking will be available at GRCC (435 Fulton St. E) as well as various other locations throughout the neighborhood. Limited on-street parking is available throughout the neighborhood but please abide by any “no parking” restrictions posted.Tour homes may be seen in any order.The tour is self-guided but there are guides at each stop to tell you a little of the history and architecture.Tour locations may be seen all in one day or you may choose to see some on Saturday and some on Sunday; your ticket is good for both days.Please note that most locations are not ADA accessible.Tour Locations Include: 423 Madison Ave. SE 434 Morris Ave. SE 505 College Ave. SE 240 Prospect Ave. SE 27 College Ave. NE 227 College Ave. SE 562 Prospect Ave. SE 473 E.
