Press release from the South Bend Community School Corporation: 03/11/2022 South Bend Community School Corporation (SBCSC) Assistant Superintendent of Business and Finance, Kareemah Fowler, district officials, and representatives from Fanning Howey will host two meetings to gather public input on the district's facilities master plan, as well as insight into the SBCSC district and community. "The input of our stakeholders is crucial to the success of this endeavor," said Fowler. "This is a vital step toward a more successful district, and we cannot proceed without careful consideration of the current culture—where we are now, where we belong, and how we can enhance and redesign our environment for the success of our students, teachers, families, and the entire South Bend community." Guests are invited to provide feedback and ideas about topics such as choice programs, Career and Technical Education, Special Education, fine arts, athletics, and other curricula. An online questionnaire will be available for two weeks following the meeting, and will also be distributed to students, teachers, and staff. Changes regarding district facilities consider four components: Educational Framework Demographics Conditions Funding Meeting One (30-minute presentation followed by a community discussion) Saturday, March 19, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Brown Community Learning Center 737 Beale St., South Bend, IN 46616 Meeting Two (30-minute presentation followed by a community discussion) Thursday, May 5, 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Charles Black Community Center 3419 W. Washington St., South Bend, IN 46619 This community meeting will provide stakeholders an opportunity to share input on facilities options that were developed based on input received at the March 19 meeting. Feedback from this community meeting will help form the recommendations for the long-range facilities plan.
