PITTSBURGH, PA — A man was found shot in Squirrel Hill early Friday, hours after law enforcement officials exchanged gunfire with people riding an ATV in the neighborhood.
Police responded to a call for a man shot in the 5700 block of Forward Avenue near the Lifetime Auto Center. They located the victim in a building vestibule who had been shot in the leg.
Officers applied a tourniquet until medics arrived. The man was taken to a local hospital and is reported in stable condition.
Just after 10 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to assist Allegheny County sheriff's deputies after they were fired upon by two suspects riding an ATV near the intersection of Beechwood Boulevard and Douglas Street. The deputies returned fire.
No injuries were reported.
The ATV was last seen turning turning right onto Loretta Street from Lilac Street at a high rate of speed heading further into the Greenfield-Hazelwood areas.
Investigations into both incidents are continuing.
