Press release from the Chester County Library System: March 9, 2022 Join us for an update on the war in Ukraine. Today's program will address why sanctions do not routinely achieve their desired effect, and, in particular, why sanctions against Russia are difficult to implement. We will also explore the challenges that lie ahead for Ukraine/EU relations. Today's program will again be led by Matthew Waldschmidt. While working on his Political Science degree from Susquehanna University (Class of 2020), he also completed the Russian Studies program at Bucknell University. He has also studied at St. Petersburg University, St. Petersburg, Russia. A life-long resident of Chester County and a devoted history nerd, Matthew enjoys everything from reading old Norse tales to catching up with the latest podcast from the Irish Times. Matthew began learning Russian while still in high school with the help of Mango Languages, a free program available through the Chester County Library System. Matthew currently works as a fraud analyst for e-commerce.
