We are currently looking to hire individuals with a passion for working with the aging population, who think positive and want to grow within an organization. Chandler Hall, a non-profit, Quaker facility, and Kendal affiliate, provides high-quality care for older adults in Newtown, Bucks County and offers a wide spectrum of services for individuals at all stages of the aging process including Community Living, Personal Care, Residential Hospice, Home Hospice, Independent Living, Respite Care, and Skilled Nursing Care. We are currently seeking a Life Enrichment Specialist to join our dedicated team by providing meaningful activities and programs to enrich the lives of our residents. This position will also support the Director of Life Enrichment with planning and facilitating varied activities and events, as well as completing all necessary documentation as directed. This is a full time role, working one evening a week and every other weekend. The Life Enrichment Specialist job responsibilities include: Plans, organizes, and facilitates daily programs and activities which meet the individual needs of the residents/clients and supports the overall dynamics of the community. Assist in maintaining supplies necessary to support programs.Assists in working with other departments to integrate the engagement of the total communitySupports overall plan of care by assisting at program transitions; being sensitive to environmental influences, group dynamics and safety.Assist with facilitation of restorative care for resident/clients, in cooperation with other staff including physical and occupational therapies.Act as a preceptor for all new staff with regards to Person Centered Engagement, communication expectations, responding individually to residents/clients and best practices for working with people living with Dementia.Assist volunteers by providing direction, best practices for approaches and program guidelinesMaintain accurate and objective written and oral communication including calendars, activity attendance records, assessments, care plans and documentation as specific department regulations require.Attends and contributes to Resident/Client Council, staff meetings, and other meetings such as Program, Food, Special Event as warranted.Provide periodic (quarterly) assessments of program outcomes to RLE Coordinator and/or Department ManagerAct as a liaison with the Child Development Program to collaborate with teachers to provide meaningful and consistent Intergenerational Living Experiences Education, Experience and Competencies High school diploma or a equivalent, with minimum of 3 years experience working with an elderly population. College a plus, preferred areas of strength include recreation, music or art therapy. Certificate as an Activity Assistant from National Certification Council of Activity Professionals (NCCAP) a plus and/or willing to obtain upon hire. Communication- Possess the ability to present ideas and information in a timely, accurate, effective, clear and respectful manner; both written and oral Customer Service- Be able to maintain mutually caring and beneficial relationships with internal and external customers Teamwork- Possess the ability to work towards a shared purpose by cooperating and/or collaborating with others to meet departmental or organizational goals Gerontology Knowledge- Including Best Practices for working with people living with Dementia and other challenges.
