CHICAGO, IL — There will be baseball — and for Chicago fans, it will start with a Cubs vs. White Sox spring training game. More than a week after MLB and the Major League Baseball Players Association failed to come to an agreement, a deal was reached Thursday, ending the lockout and ensuring a full season of major league ball will happen. The Cubs will face the Sox in an afternoon game in Arizona on March 18. While two weeks' worth of regular-season games were canceled, the White Sox will kick off the regular season with an April 15 home game against Tampa Bay, starting off a three-game series. The Cubs will start the season in Colorado for a series against the Rockies starting April 14. Their home opener is set for April 18 against Tampa Bay. The players union's executive board approved a labor agreement with MLB in a 26-12 vote, pending ratification by players, the Associated Press reported. The Cubs reacted to the news with a tweet saying simply, "Baseball."
