Ohio Connections Academy Recognizes Cleveland Student

COLUMBUS, OH – Johanna Tuma, of Cleveland, was recently named one of Ohio Connections Academy's (OCA) Star Students of the Month for March in recognition of her hard work and leadership in the online classroom. Johanna, a senior at the statewide online public charter school, was nominated by her teacher, Ms. Linn, because of her hard work and determination to succeed in class. As a Star Student, Johanna will be presented a certificate recognizing her achievement and be profiled in Ohio Connections Academy's student newsletter and on the school's social media platforms. Each month during the school year OCA will recognize students in grades K through 12 who are excelling in the virtual classroom. "The faculty, staff and members of the board at Ohio Connections Academy are proud to recognize students like Johanna and the commitment they demonstrate to our school and their community," said OCA Superintendent Marie Hanna. "Each of our Star Students is a leader in the classroom and demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to learning – they truly deserve this recognition." Johanna said she came to Ohio Connections Academy in 2020 to be in learning environment that met her individual needs. While she liked attending her traditional brick-and-mortar school, she felt she didn't get the help she needed from her teachers. She attributes much of her success to the relationships she has with her teachers at Ohio Connections Academy. "As soon as I came to Ohio Connections Academy, I got the help I needed. I love this school because they really show they care about all of their students and my grades have never been so good," Johanna said. "Ms. Linn has been the best teacher I can ever ask for. If I need help with anything, she's always right on it and she really shows she cares about her students."
