Woodland, CA - Members of the community are invited to attend a Women's History Month Celebration on March 23 at 5:00 p.m. Hosted by the Yolo County Office of Education, the virtual event will be held on Facebook Live and Zoom and celebrate women's contributions to society, culture and education.
Former college dean and professor of communication studies Dr. Colette L. Harris-Mathews will serve as the main speaker. Harris-Mathews has more than 20 years of experience in higher education as a dean, education leader, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) practitioner. She now serves as a principal consultant for Harris Mathews Consulting, which focuses on organizational development and leadership.
Harris-Mathews is a long-time community leader in the Sacramento region. She has been actively involved in championing education policy and African American student achievement.
The event will be emceed by County Superintendent Garth Lewis and will feature Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry. Aguiar-Curry represents the Fourth Assembly District, which includes all of Yolo County except West Sacramento.
There is no cost to attend the event. The webinar will be streamed on Facebook Live at facebook.com/YoloCOE. To participate via Zoom, attendees are asked to register in advance at yolocoe.k12oms.org/2495-215784.
