Arrest Made In Deadly Shooting At Kingston Housing Community

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A woman has been arrested and charged with murder in the Monday night shooting death of Tamaiya Morton in the Kingston housing community. Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the Birmingham Police Department said 24-year-old Raven Thompson of Birmingham has been charged with capital murder in the case. Morton was found dead in her SUV Monday night in the 900 block of 46th Place North. The investigation revealed that she had been shot while driving and her car hit a utility pole. Thompson was identified shortly afterwards as a person of interest, and was found by police at a nearby apartment and taken into custody. Thompson is being held at Jefferson County Jail with no bond.
