Hello! Scratch Meats is building our 2022 production/market!!! We are looking to hire one more production team members and several farmers market leads. Shifts are available for markets on Saturday and Sunday. We are a small artisanal sausage company operating out of North Portland. We make all of our product by hand in house and source our meats from small local farms. Our product is made with high attention to detail and are crafted with only meat, seasoning and salt. We predominantly sell our product at farmers markets in the Portland metro area, but also at our production facility and to restaurants. Most of our current open positions are seasonal. We are looking to hire folx who can commit to the entire market season, which runs March/April through November. Scratch Meats is a family run business. We love and take good care for our employees. Open Positions Farmers Market Team Lead: This position is perfectly suited for an individual who is a people person- both friendly and approachable and enjoys talking to strangers! You must be willing to working outside (in all weather), be self-motivated, and enjoy talking about food. You must have a genuine interest in learning about our product, farm sources and have the ability and desire to share this information with our customers (we will teach you!!). The farmers market atmosphere is lovely. It’s ever changing with the seasons, fast paced, and the customers are typically very friendly and kind. You must be available to work Saturdays. Sunday availability is a plus as well. Also its important to have the ability to commit through the duration of the 2022 farmers market season. We have some flexibility if you need a weekend or two off if planned in advance. Ideal candidates will have a vehicle that can load market coolers and set up (wagon, truck or SUV). We reimburse for mileage. Production Crew Member: This position is well-suited for an individual who enjoys working on a team, has experience or the desire to learn to work in a production kitchen, is interested in learning the art of sausage making, is detail oriented, self-motivated and has the ability to work standing up all day. Our production team typically works Tuesday-Fridays depending on product demand, however it is not essential to be available to work all of the days. Shifts vary in length between 6-8 hours. Job responsibilities • Assist in all aspects of production grinding, mixing, stuffing, twisting and packaging • Helping to maintain very clean work environment • Physical ability to repetitively move product around the kitchen (25-30 pounds) • Follow direction of production lead • Team player Compensation- $15-20 Other job perks: • Cash bonuses based on sales • Free sausage and or bartering opportunities with other vendors If you are interested in any of these positions, please write us a short cover letter or email specifying which job is of interest to you and why you believe you are a good fit.
