The Farm Hand assists the Orchard Manager with operation and maintenance of the Orchard Property. The Farm Hand is supervised by the Orchard Manager. The Farm Hand position starts as a full-time/non-exempt/permanent position. Starting hourly wage is $18 an hour. Requirements • Must have good communication skills, must have the ability to work on a team in support of others, have a strong positive attitude, a good work ethic and the ability to work independently. • Basic knowledge of and experience in farming and orchard management is preferred • Previous operation and knowledge of driving a tractor, forklift and other farm equipment. • Knowledge of irrigation systems. • An aptitude for mechanical and machinery repairs and maintenance is a plus. Availability Requirements The scheduled days of work for this position are varied depending on need. Specific hours scheduled also vary depending upon need. Applicants need to be available 7 days a week and have the flexibility to be scheduled on different days with different hours each week since the needs of the Orchard vary from season to season. Physical Requirements All applicants to be considered must be able to: • Lift and move heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs. • Safely climb stairs and ladders • Be on their feet for the entirety of their shift doing strenuous physical work. • Safely and comfortably be outdoors in all types of weather. • Safely and comfortably work and move about the orchard in order to complete all tasks assigned. Regular Job Duties include, but are not limited to: • Completing all tasks assigned by Orchard manager • Assisting harvest • Lawn and Garden care around the homes and buildings of the property. • Supporting all other departments throughout Oregon Spirit Distillers when called upon to do so.
