Are you a student earning a degree to positively impact juvenile behavioral health and development? Are you struggling to find balance between the financial burdens of living and going to school? This may be the perfect opportunity for you! I am seeking a youth mentor for my teenage son. We are hoping to find a college student studying juvenile development, behavioral health, juvenile intervention, or related field. Position requires weeklong in-home, 24 hour care every other week. For the right candidate, full room and board accommodation is negotiable. Purpose and Goals for this Position: 1. Continue to Develop Social Competency: continued guidance in building interpersonal-social boundaries and gaining confidence in interpersonal-social skills; 2. Encourage Behavior Management: managing interpersonal, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral responses to various situations. Appropriately demonstrate and reinforce positively reflecting anger, managing conflicts, and expressing frustrations verbally. Reinforce learning the dynamic relationship between actions and consequences; 3. Emphasize Effective Communication: effectively use skills to genuinely listen to others and make their personal, interpersonal, emotional, and physical needs known; 4. Encourage Problem identification and resolution: practice effective problem resolution techniques and gain confidence in their problems solving skills; 5. Continue to Develop Self-sufficiency: work at building self-trust, self-confidence, and/or self-reliance therapeutically. Duties include: Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times. Maintain a structured setting focused on individual behavioral management and learning. Demonstrate the ability to transform everyday activities into teachable moments and therapeutic events. Invest time in understanding the needs of my son by reviewing his history; utilize treatment notes to be able to recognize and address at risk behaviors. Document and share behaviors (positive and negative) that occur, actively participate in behavioral reviews and revising treatment goals. Administer and document administration of medications as prescribed. Complete daily/weekly checklist of household chores in the interest of creating a clean, hygienic, and nurturing environment. Maintain consistent and appropriate engagement with youth. Participate in regular, planned, therapeutic activities/outings. Provide transportation as necessary. Provide basic first aid as necessary. Oversee meal preparations including cooking and dining with each other. Attend scheduled team meetings and mandatory trainings. Other duties and tasks as assigned. Applicants Must Maintain Appropriate Boundaries, Including But Not Limited To: Maintain consistent and appropriate supervision of youth Appropriate language Appropriate physical boundaries Appropriate clothing Appropriate emotional relationships Maintain “helper” role boundaries Maintain professional interactions Model appropriate behavior including appropriate use and care of our home, and personal property. Requirements: Applicant must be able to pass a drug screen and background check. Must have reliable personal transportation with current registration. Must have a valid US Driver’s license. Must provide proof of liability car insurance with at least the minimum coverage required by the state of Nevada Preferences: Preferred applicant will be over 21, seeking a degree in Human Services, Psychology, Behavior Management, Youth Intervention, or relevant field, or have 3 years applicable work experience. Job Type: Flex-time, week on, week off schedule Pay: Average pay $11.00; $6.50 during non-contact hours and $16.50 during direct contact hours.
