Decoding Trauma Treatment presented by Robyn Sonnier, LPC, NCC, CCTP-II is a three hour CE Event in New Orleans, LA Note: A Free Lunch will be provided during this event. PRESENTATION TITLE Decoding Trauma Treatment DESCRIPTION OF PRESENTATION Many clinicians are presented with a client suffering from a traumatic experience that is often unresolved. Although it may not be the primary goal of the client in treatment, it often is the main symptom being presented. This session will review the clinical criteria for the various trauma and stressor-related disorders. It will review barriers often faced with effective and appropriate treatment of trauma as well as interventions to these barriers. The session will overview various treatment interventions that can be utilized in the counseling experience. It will provide an overview of the biopsychosocial effects of trauma. The goal of this session is to create awareness and interventions for the treatment of clients suffering from symptoms related to traumatic experiences. LEARNING OBJECTIVES 1. Defining trauma and understanding the specifics of clinical criteria. 2. Understanding the biopsychosocial components of trauma and its impact on the brain. 3. Identify potential barriers associated with trauma treatment and effectiveness. 4. Identify application of clinical/psychotherapeutic interventions for symptoms of trauma stress to facilitate stabilization and recovery for the client. BIO Robyn is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Level 2 Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP-II) with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts degree both from Louisiana State University. Her specialties include substance abuse and trauma. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, she has undergone a variety of trauma-focused trainings such as but not limited to, EMDR, trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (tf-CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, & Written Exposure Therapy. She has also completed the Louisiana Association of Substance Abuse Counselors & Trainers (LASACT) program for addiction counseling & have a long history of working in substance recovery centers. She is currently the co-owner of Clarté Counseling, LLC and works as a private practice clinician focusing on helping individuals with trauma achieve healing. She is dedicated to giving back to her profession. She is known for volunteering at the Louisiana Counseling Association conference for seven years, a volunteer for the American Red Cross, and provides several continued education presentations to help serve the need. She also has a passion for working with the United States military, offering free sessions to veterans, active duty, and reservists, and is currently serving as the Clinical Director for the Acadiana Veteran Alliance Heal program. This event has been approved for 3.0 CE clock hours in Diagnosis by the Louisiana Counseling Association as authorized by the Louisiana Professional Counselor Licensing Board of Examiners. This event has been approved for 3.0 CE clock hours in Clinical by the National Association of Social Workers-Louisiana Chapter as authorized by the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners.
