An evening with David Sirota, the Academy Award nominated writer of "Don't Look Up" & Fundraising event for Women in Sustainability An evening with David Sirota, the Academy Award nominated writer of "Don't Look Up" & Fundraising Event for Women in Sustainability In partnership with Arc Thrift Stores and Woods Boss Brewing Company It's a bird, It's a plane ... it's, it's climate change. In 2021, the apocalyptic comedy, “Don't Look Up” quickly climbed the charts to become one of Netflix’s top 3 biggest hits of all time. Its star-studded cast drew a wide range of applause, cynicism, and laughter as the characters navigate a world where an impending asteroid heads directly towards Earth. Many (particularly environmentalists) felt the movie hit close to home with its underlying themes of media indifference, consumer behavior, and issues around government and politics. But can the movie perhaps teach us a bit about optimism through the use of satire before it's too late? Join us on April 13 from 5:30pm - 8pm to hear from the Academy Award nominee and co-writer of the Don't Look Up, David Sirota, as we discuss the film's plot and get an insider look at what went into writing this unique film. After a fireside chat with David, we will welcome 2 panelists to break down the movie's themes and discuss how we can use the film's analogies to create change. Perhaps we can learn from the satirical world Sirota created and find action, optimism, and hope in our own future. There will be a special VIP reception from 5:30pm - 6:00pm. VIP ticket includes early entry, 1 drink ticket, light appetizers and an intimate conversation with David Sirota.
