Nauvoo, Illinois. French Heritage Days- July 1,2,3, 2022. Winery tours and tastings, history talks, bike race, history walk, French Dinner. Purpose: To honor the French History and Culture of Nauvoo, Illinois. Events: Friday, July 1st- 6:00 p.m. either an evening riverboat cruise or a tour of the Weld Museaum focusing on the French Icarian Period. Saturday, July 2nd: (At the Nauvoo Family Inn and Suites) Opening Talk by Randy Soland- Who were the French Icarians?, Walking tour of the French Icarian Properties, Visit to the French Cambre House (Talk by Rebecca Williamson, President of the Nauvoo Historical Society) with box lunch provided, winery tour and tastings at Baxter's Winery, then winery tour and tastings at the Press House Winery, then at 6 p.m. back to the Family Inn and Suites for a history talk "The Importance of the French to the Success of the American Revolution" by Dr. Tim Roberts, historian at Western Illinois University, French dinner by Chef Ellen, French Music and Dancing by the Historical Merriments. Sunday, July 3rd: Choice of either : a bicyle tour of the L.D.S. sites on the Flats or participate in the "Tour de Nauvoo" bicycle race.
