Create an original piece of jewelry using salvaged leather and repurposed metal tins! Dallas native and "upcycle" expert Carolyn Marco is thrilled to be teaching a lucky group how to create an original piece of jewelry using salvaged leather and repurposed metal tins. Will you walk away with some original earrings? A funky necklace? Something else entirely? Your call! This B.Y.O.B. workshop will be 2 hours long, and participants will be provided with all necessary materials and tools for some “crafty fun.” The only thing they’ll need to bring is themselves, a bit of creativity, and whatever they’d like to drink, alcoholic or not. See you there! Ages 21 and up. $70 per person. Limited space to allow for social distancing. Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow time to check in. Materials provided: Repurposed metal tins, leather skins in various colors & textures, waxed cord for necklaces, earring wires, jump rings, drawing supplies and templates Tools provided: Tin snips, leather shears, pliers, leather glue, sandpaper, metal files, hammers, metal and leather punches, work gloves and safety goggles About the Instructor: Carolyn is a Richardson-based multidisciplinary maker, educator, and beer lover, passionate about upcycling materials in surprising and impactful ways. Her workshops are focused around not only reducing waste, but inspiring others to see possibilities in everyday materials. ...from metalsmith...to jewelry designer...to educator... Former Creative Director and Jewelry Designer for Fossil, she traded the corporate world to focus on creative experiences. Carolyn facilitates Maker Programs at The Perot Museum of Nature and Science, and she also guides families through the creative process during Open Studio at the Dallas Museum of Art.
