MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — After a successful "pilot" day of reopening the Teen Center in Manhattan Beach on Friday, June 26, the MB Parks and Recreation Department is offering a Teen Center Summer Camp for 2020. The program is a drop-in, non-custodial program, open to all residents entering 6th, 7th and 8th grade in the fall (basically ages 11-15). The program is limited to 25 participants and advance registration is necessary. Twenty-one teens attended on June 26, said Jerod Gordon, activity supervisor for the Teen Center.
"We will be following all COVID-19 guidelines procedures," said David Ibarra, program coordinator with MB Parks and Rec. "All teens must wear a facial covering at all times."
The program offers a variety of available activities, including ping-pong, pool tables, video games, movies, and card games. The cost is $5 per resident and $6 per non-resident. Kids can drop in anytime for each day they are registered or stay all day. Hours are 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
A personal box lunch is included in the registration fee and teens need to be present at the center by 12 noon to place their lunch order. Lunch will be served around 1 p.m.
The Teen Center is located at Manhattan Heights Community Center, 1600 Manhattan Beach Boulevard and will be held on the following Fridays. Click on the numbered link next to a specific date to access the registration page:
