MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — One Manhattan Beach player is out and another one is still in as competition heats up today in the AVP Porsche Cup held in Long Beach without an audience. Playing in the Qualifiers this morning, MB's Lane Carrico and her partner Karolina Marciniak pushed hard to the end, going down 13-21, 21-14 and 15-12 to the team of Katie Spieler and Delaney Knudsen Mewhirter, who advanced. Should Pardon and Cook win, they advance to play Sheila Shaw and Mackenzie Ponnet at 3:50 p.m. The winner of that match advances to the Main Draw for competition Saturday (tomorrow) morning. Main Draw competition can be viewed live on Amazon Prime. Alix Klineman of Manhattan Beach and her partner April Ross are in the Main Draw and play tomorrow at 10:20 a.m. They have won the AVP Monster Hydro Cup and Wilson Cup, both part of a three-tournament series to also determine who will win the Champions Cup.
