Tour the 1859 Jail & Home and explore portions of the jail previously closed to the public. Presented by the Jackson County Historical Society and in partnership with the City of Independence Historic Preservation Department, learn about the upcoming preservation work happening at the 1859 Jail Museum located on the historic Independence Square. Tour guides will walk you through each room pointing out critical restoration work needed and already completed. Visitors will also get a special behind the scenes look at spaces the public never gets to see.
