HOBOKEN, NJ — Arthur's Tavern on Washington Street, a landmark steakhouse that closed a month ago, is auctioning off its equipment and furniture on Thursday via this website. The auctioneers are suggesting that people come to the site. Its owners had said they may return someday after extensive renovations, but left the timeline unclear. The restaurant had said it would sell off its Tiffany lamps, neon signs, and all furnishings. Commenters on the restaurant's Instagram asked if they were closing for good, or just for renovations, but got no answers. "Sounds to me like they aren't sure," wrote one commenter. An email to owners David and Wanda Jacey for clarification last month went unanswered. The tavern has been at that Hoboken corner long enough that it appears on lists of haunted places. "Please come visit us one more time and enjoy an Arthur's steak, the famous griddled potatoes, garlic bread, French onion soup, and our famous burgers," the owners wrote on social media in January.
